  • National Careers Week

    Fri 05 Mar 2021

This week it has been National Careers Week.  As a school careers is embedded throughout our curriculum from Early Years all the way through to Post 16! As part of National Careers Week we launched a programme to support this even further called JED. JED is a job database to explore the World of Work.  It has searches, quizzes, words, pictures and videos to help our learners find out more about many different jobs within a variety of sectors!

This week learners in Post 16 joined forces with Bristol Works and took part in a virtual behind the scenes tour of Waitrose in Henleaze.  Learners were able to see how products arrive at the supermarket at the loading bay and how the different types of products are stored before they make their way to the shop floor.  Following this initial session the group took part in a live Q&A session with Waitrose to ask questions to find out more about the retail sector!  Post 16 also had a live virtual encounter with The Bell Group construction company.  Our learners heard from and asked questions to members of the company as well as from the apprentices themselves to learn about how they got to where they are now.

We’ve got plenty more exciting World of Work activities lined up in the coming weeks including virtual experiences with Chester Zoo’s Aquarium Keeper, Bristol Robins, Fleet Services (mechanics), Avon Wildlife Trust and within the catering sector!

  • World Maths Day

    Wed 03 Mar 2021

Today it was World Maths Day.  Owl’s class teacher Hannah became quiz master as she hosted our very own ‘The Price is Right quiz show Morrison’s style!

The quiz was completed virtually so classes across our campus could join in the fun altogether.  There were two rounds; the first was ‘The Price is Right’ where teams had to guess which item of food cost a certain amount and the second round was ‘Guess Who’ where teams had to match a fun fact to a member of staff in school!

Who knew that within our staff team we have an author who has written a book (James R), someone who has performed in the West End (Rosie), someone who has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro (Leslea) and someone who can speak 2 languages (Sandra) to name some!!

Well done everyone for taking part and having fun!  Here are some photos from the day!

  • Safer Internet Day

    Tue 09 Feb 2021

Thank you to those of you who joined us for our Safer Internet Coffee Afternoon.  There were some great discussions with Michael, Puffin class teacher, about how to keep children safe online, the risks to be aware of, things to look out for and signposting where to go for further help.

It is important to remember that internet safety isn't just about going on the world wide web, it is also accessing social media, virtual chat rooms and online gaming to name some.

If you have any questions or concerns please do contact Michael or Jo P.

  • Children in Need

    Fri 27 Nov 2020

Thank you so much to everyone for your generous donations for Children in Need.  Although we very much missed having families join in with the fun on the day in school due to the current restrictions in place, we had a great time dressing us up as our favourite characters from films or wearing our pyjamas to school and doing our sponsored walks and activities!

Thank you so much for your support and for helping us to raise an incredible £600.00!!
