Students in Swallow Class have been busy using their IT skills to research information. They have found different restaurants, researched addresses and directions and even found online menus. To advertise our school Halloween Disco, our learners found images for Halloween online which they saved to use in a poster design to print and advertise around the school. They are great at saving their work to a USB stick to use at a later date.... a very important work skill for the future.
Post 16 Environmental Artists
Learners in the Post 16 Arts Award group have been learning about Andy Goldsworthy, an environmental artist. They explored his work and then went out to Ashton Court to collect a range of found natural objects to make arrangements with. The students really enjoyed this, creating some beautiful Land Art which they photographed as a record of their work. Students then used paints to mix a range of autumnal colours from the three primary colours. Using different collected leaves, the group learnt how to use printing inks and rollers to make leaf prints. Their work is brilliantly autumnal!
Oliver and Rachael have been busy completing work experience at Step & Stone Bakery. They have learnt all the different parts to making Lavosh crackers which are sold nationwide in delicatessens. They both know the routine hygiene procedures to follow and have done everything from mixing the dough to packaging the finished crackers. Well done Oliver and Rachael.... our great New Fosseway bakers!
Kerryann has been busy learning all about horses at Horse World. She has learnt how to groom, saddle and even ride the horses. Despite it being a smelly job, Kerryann didn't mind the mucking out or filling the hay sacks for the horses stables. Well done on a great work experience!
