Swallow class have been making things to sell in our Christmas craft market. They have had to work together to come up with ideas, plan what they need to make each item and execute production. The class worked excellently on a 'production line' system, displaying excellent employability skills. They completed stock inventories. They are currently in the process of working out the profit made...... the students hope it will be enough to buy a Christmas hot chocolate each before the holiday!
Students who opted to complete an art and design accreditation, the Arts Award Discovery, have been busy researching different hats. They have looked at the hats of designers like Philip Treacy and tried on some hats in class before making a mood board. Learners used the mood board to design a hat for Ascot, which they then made. We hope you'll agree, they look simply stunning darling!
Some of Swallow Class have been learning about keeping a house clean. They listened to a story about Gran's Visit and thought about what jobs need doing at home. Students have been busy polishing mirrors, washing hand basins, sorting washing, putting in into the machine or the tumble dryer and folding the clean clothes. Learners have changed a duvet cover and pillowcases. We may have lost one or two in the duvet cover initially! They've even done some brushing and vacuuming because their clumsy teacher dropped crisps and bits of paper all over the floor....whoops!
Swallow Class have been busy prepping for the school Valentine Disco on Thursday 14th February. First, they made posters to advertise the disco and next the put together class packs of invitations, working well as an admin team. Learners made romantic heart bunting decorations for the hall which has tested their fine motor skills. A group of students shopped for refreshments for the disco and then completed a stock inventory to check we had adequate supplies for all the pupils who are coming. It's going to be a fun evening!
