This year Swallow class worked with their peers in Robin class to create some fantastical bugs and mini-beasts for an exhibition that will run at The Create Centre from Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th July. The learners looked at the work of Louise Bourgouis and then created their own imaginary giant insects using recycled or upcycled materials. Learners were inventive and worked as small teams, using their negotiating and communication skills well to explain ideas!
Well done our Post 16 artists!
Fantastic Bugs & Mini-Beasts!
Some of our Post 16 students are completing a journalism course as part of our partnership with Bristol Rugby Community. They have looked around Ashton Gate and this week, they visited Sam FM, our local Bristol radio station. They had a tour and then explored the radio studios....they even had a go on the mics....we have some budding radio DJs of the future....what do you think?
Swallow Class has been learning about repeat patterns. Learners practised making different repeat patterns before exploring different printing techniques. They used poly-block tiles to make two colour reduction print repeat patterns based on sketches of everyday items. The work is on display in the VC. The students worked together to put the display up showing excellent cooperation and team-working!
Swallows Get Healthy!
Some of Swallow Class have been learning about being healthy. They looked at healthy foods and designed their own fruit smoothies. The students went shopping for the ingredients and then made their personal smoothies which tasted delicious!
