Meet our School Governors

Chair of Governors

Maureen Salter

Appointed July 2016

Picture 1

Hello, I am Maureen Salter, and I became Chair of Governors in July this year. I have been a Governor at New Fosseway School for a year, having been encouraged to join the Governors by Caroline Jenkins.

My background is as a retired Teacher, the last 10 years of my career was with Woodstock Special School, who specialise in social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. During much of my teaching career I was a staff Governor, so the  role of Governor is not new to me.

I have a very strong view that education should be of the very highest quality for all students and that schools should be places of learning, enjoyment, fun and security. I hope to promote these qualities and much more for all members of the New Fosseway School community.

Other than Governing, I find time to garden, to be an active Grandparent, swim, walk and read...I also spend some time mentoring students at the Bridge Learning Campus....and, very occasionally I find time to sew both clothes and things for home.

Vice Chair of Governors

As a Governor, I am particularly interested in the development of teaching and learning and enjoy being part of New Fosseway's journey towards outstanding provision.

Co-opted Governor

Claire Furneaux (parent at New Fosseway)

I have been a governor at New Fosseway since October 2016 after my daughter joined the school the previous month.  I am very keen on being part of the school team and doing my part to help support the staff and pupils to achieve the very best possible during their time at New Fosseway.  My husband and I ran a multimedia company for 10 years before specialising in the investigation of computer fraud.  I am currently serving as Health and Safety Governor and look forward to seeing the school continue to improve and work together with the wider community to achieve an outstanding provision.  I'm a keen, but not very productive gardener and spend a lot of time doing volunteer work in the community.
